When the nominations for the 79th Annual Academy Award nominations were announced today in Los Angeles, Miramax Films as a company received an amazing seven overall nominations, including six for "The Queen," and one for "Venus." "We are incredibly proud of 'The Queen' and 'Venus' and delighted that they have both been recognized by the Academy. I am thrilled to continue the Miramax tradition of releasing award-worthy films," said Miramax president Daniel Battsek.

She enlists the help of her 20-something nephew who passes himself off as the writer of her scripts. But when he falls in love with a studio executive, her plan to reveal that she is, in fact, the talented wordsmith, is jeopardized. "And She Was" will premiere this summer on Lifetime Television.

The Lithuanian Film by Arunas Matelis, "Before Flying Back to Earth," received a 9.9 scorecard out of a possible 10 by readers of the Internet Movie Database as reported by Nominum at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The Director said, "I am surprised and extremely pleased by this news as well as the reception of my film in its US premier there, especially since this year, there are many excellent foreign films."

"Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," the new blockbuster movie based on the series of books by J.K. Rowling, is having its space premiere. The movie was transmitted from Mission Control in Houston Tuesday to NASA astronaut and International Space Station Commander Bill McArthur, who asked to see the movie. As part of NASA's regular assistance to crew members on long-duration space flights, NASA contacted the maker of the Harry Potter movies, Warner Bros. Pictures, in the hopes that they might work some magic and help McArthur see the film while in space. Together they worked to send the film to McArthur.
