The home furnishings industry is descending upon Las Vegas this week as the Las Vegas Market trade show kicks off at World Market Center, soon to be the largest trade complex in the world. Celebrities and furniture designers world-wide are taking notice of the growing Market, which opened in 2005, and is quickly emerging as the destination for the international home furnishings industry.
Las Vegas residents and tennis power couple Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf are teaming up with Kreiss to unveil the new Agassi Graf Collection today in the Kreiss showroom. Other celebrity showrooms in the complex include model and actress-turned furniture entrepreneur Kathy Ireland and popular HGTV host and designer Candice Olson.
"World Market Center is quickly emerging as the global stage for new product introductions for the $120 billion home furnishings industry," said World Market Center CEO, Harvey Dondero, who said World Market Center executives expect more than 60,000 furniture retailers, manufacturers, designers and specifiers to attend the Market, which runs today through Friday.
More than 1,200 exhibitors will showcase product and collections at World Market Center, the Pavilions and Cashman Center during the week-long event.
Today also marks the grand opening of the new 16-story, $345 million, 1.6 million square foot addition to the home furnishings campus. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, Blue Man Group, Entertainer Clint Holmes, Rat Pack and Diavolo will take part in a pyrotechnic unveiling this evening.
Dondero added, "Like the Detroit North American International Auto Show is to the automotive industry and the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is to the world of gadgets and electronic devices, the Las Vegas Market is the global stage for introducing new collections and the latest trends to the home furnishings industry."
Home fashion trends on display this week include architecturally inspired modern pieces; metallics; grown-up juvenile furniture; updated home theater pieces to showcase the latest in home electronics; and furniture going "green" made with organics, wood grains, and recycled material. |
