Playhouse Theatre Players (PTP), presents "House On The Hill, Mammy Pleasant's Story." This must see dramatic portrayal of historical figure Mammy Pleasant considered the Mother of Civil Rights in the 1800s in the State of California opens February 4th with the Sunday Speaker Series. GALA Hispanic Theatre is pleased to announce the U.S. Spanish language premiere of Las Paredes (The Walls). This sharp and deeply ironic play by the controversial Argentine Griselda Gambaro, one of Latin America's foremost contemporary playwrights, is the second production of our 2006-2007 season, Her Work, His Staging, an ongoing celebration of Hispanic female playwrights. Directed by Gabriel Garcia, the play runs February 1 to 25 2007 at GALA Theatre-Tivoli, at 3333 14th Street NW.

Michigan Opera Theatre will present Cyrano, a world premiere opera by Company Founder and General Director, David DiChiera, and director/librettist Bernard Uzan, Oct. 13 - 28, 2007 at the Detroit Opera House. This three-act opera, DiChiera's first-ever major opera, is based on Edmond Rostand's celebrated play of 1897, Cyrano de Bergerac, a romantic tragedy. Cyrano is a co-production with the Opera Company of Philadelphia and Florida Grand Opera.

Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre will sing in the New Year with a special return engagement of the Sing-A-Long version of Walt Disney's classic "Mary Poppins," from January 11th through the 31st, it was announced today (January 2, 2007) by Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. The film will be projected digitally using fully restored film elements and a re-mastered soundtrack featuring state-of-the-art audio technology.
